A proper entry this time i think.
After a short stint over at Gold Coast, it had just come to my attention that each state in Australia had it's own pet name. Like Victoria is known as the Garden State with it's abundance of parks (yes, a very lovely thing in autumn and spring) and Queensland is hailed as the Sunshine State. Then I got to wondering if our very own Malayisan states had names like that. Well, yeah I'm well aware of Selangor being the 'abode of sincerity' thanks to the wonders of Wikipedia, hahaha shame on me-
*takes a moment to stop ferrets from dragging plastic bags behind the couch.*
Ok where was I. Yes. Selangor. Abode of Sincerity. While it does have a nice ring to it, I was wondering if there were any pet names for certain states of Malaysia that really brought out the 'essence' of that particular place. In other words, less high and mighty and following the nilai-nilai moral, more local. Because if we're able to identify each state by their unique aspects, surely we'd love them that much more. Also it'll be nifiter when suggesting a destination for your foreign mates to head to. :D
I'd certainly classify Penang as 'The Food State', though many Ipoh people would protest to this. Yes, Ipoh is great with food and all, Malacca too! but I'd prefer to call your place 'The Retirement State' and 'The Historical State' respectively :P Malacca and history, cannot escape la unless you guys out there might be able to think of something more fitting?
Below is a list of all the states and their extended names, just so i don't forget them again and a name that i think suits the place. All in good fun people, all in good fun.
Johor Darul Ta'azim (The Abode of Dignity)
Kedah Darul Aman (The Abode of Peace)
Kelantan Darul Naim (The Beautiful Abode)
Pahang Darul Makmur (Abode of Tranquility)
Perak Darul Ridzuan (The Land of Grace)
Selangor Darul Ehsan (Abode of Sincerity)
Terengganu Darul Iman (Abode of Faith)
Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus (The Special Abode)
Perlis Darul Sunnah previously was Indera Kayangan. Holy hell, I never knew they changed!
Malacca Negeri Bersejarah (The Historical State)
Pulau Pinang (eh no extended name?)
Sabah Negeri di Bawah Bayu (Land Under the Wind)
Sarawak Bumi Kenyalang (Land of the Hornbills)
...Don't give me that look. I bet you can't remember the extended names of all our Malaysian states too. ;p So spill it people, what nickname would you fit to the states above?
On another note, I'm so proud to know that the TOA gang has an international network of sorts made of The Aussies, The Brits, The Kiwis, The Locals and The American. I say the American because Kenny Chan is the only one who's heading to Miami. Hee. So cool yah?

Kids' toys are getting unbearably cool/cute/awesome nowadays. So geram. Remember back in our time all we had were the usual Barbie dolls, smelly play-doh and masak masak food (oh and not to forget childhood delights like batu seremban and bottlecaps)? Now they have shit like mini scientific kits that actually work for the budding scientist, full blown craft kits for the learning artist and the complete roulette/poker gambling set to make any uncle who frequents Genting Casino proud. And also a barrel game that promotes stabbing little swords into a PVC hotpants wearing Japanese wrestler wtf.
Damnit. I pun mahu main.
This is one of those times when i wish was either a) a kid again with papa's money to spend happily, or b) one of those QC people for new toys that hit the market, thus allowing me free samples of every single item of awesomeness that comes into the market.
The powers of pantulan cahaya.

Eversince coming to Melbourne I've been all but oblivious to the happenings back in good ol' Malaysia. However my ears and eyes did catch wind of the interesting things, like Mahathir chewing out Badawi over a bridge, people getting struck by lightning, gothic kids being skewered by the media and so on so forth.
But anyway, the point of this post is to inform that come tomorrow I'll be collaborating with Juufan in creating a merdeka blog entry that'll win hopefully the internetz. :D Some of you might know what i'm yammering about, most of you probably won't. But i promise that it'll be so full of crack that your brain will break. I know mine will.
*waves a Malaysian Flag. Let us all blog in our mother tongue for tomorrow! 8D

//Dear RMIT administration..//
STOP TRYING TO
FUCK ME OVER
Full story tomorrow, after i hopefully take care of the fuckers. Seriously, no matter how wonderful their lecturers are the fact remains that the higher ups are a bunch of buffoons. Oh the anger. =_=
Okay, for those who don't already know, here's the story in a nutshell.
1. I come to Melbourne with a 1st year offer.
2. I appeal at RMIT for an exemption into 3rd year.
3. After a short meeting, i am given the option by BOTH of the Creative Media faculty heads to choose between enrolling in first year OR third year. They would have slotted me into 2nd year given the chance, but that was full.
4. SO I CHOOSE THIRD YEAR LA.
5. After that I'm instructed to fill in the change of enrolment form, then attend classes normally.
HAH. ALL SMOOTH YOU THINK? YAH RIGHT.
I've been filling and giving in FOUR of those bloody forms throughout the entire semester and everytime i never get my status updated. This resulted in a serious muck up, ultimately resulting in me not recieving my results for the 1st semester. Apparently the creative media administration had not gotten anything from RMIT international (where i filled out the forms), so i personally went to RMIT International to sort things out. After much discussion and taking a peek at my student file, there was a photocopy of the change of enrolment form that i had filled in, with the words Advised by David Barlas (he's the Creative Media admin) and TRANSMISSION OK.
And it was OKed on the 8th of April. So what does that tell me? It tells me that he paperwork looks fine, but it's just not relected in the RMIT database. Not my fault right? I just selected one of the options they gave me, and followed through with the procedures,so why so fucked up la? So i demanded that they followed up ASAP, and once they did it became a juggling act of shoving the responsibility to and fro between the CM admin and RMIT international. -_-
And yours truly is at the bottom of the food chain, unable to do anything. Wunderbar.
To add salt to the wound, the CM faculty heads that previously VERY VERY CLEARLY stated that it was my choice to choose between 1st and 3rd year are now saying that i was actually granted first year, but i made the 'mistake' of enrolling myself in third year. So now, they have to go sorting through oodles of paperwork for my sake. Fucking hell, I REMEMBER the exact words that came out of your mouth you cretin. Those were the words i mulled and agonized on the whole night to reach a decision, hell i even have the BLOG ENTRY
But geez, what would i know right? I'm just another simple international student with subpar english paying through my nose to get one of your stupid paper certs.
This thing will be ongoing for a very long time i reckon. Till then, i know not of what will become of my results, or my status as a third year student. It's like dangling from a thin wire that's about to break. I hate this.

born 6th June 1985
- hence the rather obvious english name - is pushing 21, and genuinely fears the world of adults that looms before her. Very silly most of the time
, and often fails to grasp the concept of deep thinking. Which is why she's most suited to strange activities like cosplay, BL, and fangirling
. The One Academy's
pretty much a thing of the past, but will haunt her memories(in a good way) for the rest of her life. :) Already in RMIT Melbourne, Australia
and facing an independent life, more dirty laundry and the absence of parents. Hu hu hu, will she ever be able to think of none other than Malaysia as her home?
Version 4.0 takes on a simpler and cleaner look. And yes, i was lazy. ;p Featuring the chain smoker Badou from Miwa's DOGS
manga on a nicotine withdrawal trip.
